Defender Jessica DiGirolamo has signed a two-year contract with the Professional Women’s Hockey League’s (PWHL) Montréal Victoire, the team announced Thursday.

The Mississauga, Ont., native joins Montréal after two seasons with the Boston Fleet. The 26-year-old recorded one goal and four assists in 30 games last season and finished with a plus-eight rating, ranking fifth among league defenders.

“Jessica is a dependable defender known for her tough, hard-to-play-against style,” said general manager Danièle Sauvageau. “She brings strong puck movement and a relentless, high-standard mentality to our group here in Montréal.”

DiGirolamo, listed at five-foot-nine, was drafted 34th overall by Boston in the PWHL’s inaugural draft and has not missed a game in her first two seasons. At Syracuse University, she served as a two-time captain and became the program’s all-time leader in goals (33), assists (62) and points (95) among defenders.

“I couldn’t be more excited to be joining the Victoire,” said DiGirolamo. “I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity to represent such a great city and play in front of their electric fan base. I’m looking forward to joining this talented group and chasing the Walter Cup.”

DiGirolamo will join a defensive core that includes Erin Ambrose, Kati Tabin and Amanda Boulier, all signed through next season.
