he National Hockey League and the Professional Women’s Hockey League announced today the rosters for the Canadian Tire PWHL 3-on-3 Showcase™, taking place during NHL All-Star Thursday™ on Feb. 1 at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.

The Canadian Tire PWHL 3-on-3 Showcase will see players from all six Professional Women’s Hockey League teams compete in a 20-minute game. The rosters, each comprised of 12 players (10 skaters and two goaltenders), have won a combined 146 Olympic and 46 World Championship medals as well as 17 NCAA Division I Championships. PWHL Special Advisor Cassie Campbell-Pascall (Team King) and New Jersey Devils Director of Player Development, Meghan Duggan (Team Kloss) will be behind the benches. The two teams have been named in honor of Billie Jean King and Ilana Kloss — PWHL Advisory Board members and long-time advocates of equality for women in sports.

 Representing Team Kloss will be Abby Roque. Roque in the inaugural PWHL season has established herself as one of the most competitive players in the league playing center for the New York franchise.

In five games played the IIHF World champion has 3 points on the year (1G, 2A).

Team USA has emerged victorious in the greatest women’s international ice hockey rivalry, at least for now, after a decisive 6-3 win over Canada at the IIHF World Women’s Ice Hockey Championship. Abby Roque, who hails from the Wanahpitae First Nation and is of Ojibway descent, played a pivotal role in securing the victory and clinching her first gold medal with the national U.S. team. This marks the 10th gold medal for the Americans in the world championships and the first time in four years that they have defeated their arch-rivals Canada.

Born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, Roque has been a member of the women’s hockey team since 2020. In the 2022 Olympics, she won a silver medal with the U.S. team, who were defeated by the Canadians. Similarly, in both 2021 and 2022 world championships, Roque had to settle for silver medals.

However, this year is a different story as Roque is now a gold medalist. She ranked second in scoring with nine points and had the best plus/minus among all Team USA forwards.

“It’s hard to beat Canada. It’s hard to beat Canada in Canada, right? So we definitely felt like an underdog,” Hilary Knight, a U.S. team player said after the game. “People are always rooting against us, but somehow we persevere and it feels sweeter that way.

PHILADELPHIA, PA – September 21, 2022 – The Professional Women’s Hockey Player Association (PWHPA) today announced its rosters for the upcoming 2022-23 season, featuring players such as Marie-Philip Poulin, Abby Roque, Ann-Renee Desbiens, Kendall Coyne Schofield, Hilary Knight, Sarah Nurse and more.

“The talent pool of the PWHPA is deeper than ever before and I’m excited to compete with and against the best of the best this season,” said Team adidas forward and PWHPA President Kendall Coyne Schofield. “I couldn’t be more excited for this upcoming season of hockey,” added Team Sonnet forward Brianne Jenner. “The talent and depth on these rosters is going to make for some extremely competitive games.”

The season will see four region-agnostic teams – Team adidas, Team Harvey’s, Team Scotiabank and Team Sonnet – compete in events across North America, starting in Montréal, QC on October 15-16 and Truro, NS on November Nov 4-6. Additional dates for PWHPA events will be announced in the coming weeks.

BUFFALO, N.Y. – USA Hockey named the 23 players set to represent the U.S. at the 2022 International Ice Hockey Federation Women’s World Championship from August 25 – September 4 in Herning and Frederikshavn, Denmark.

The team returns 18 players from the 2022 U.S. Olympic Women’s Hockey Team that took home silver in February, including  Abby Roque.

Katie Million, USA Hockey ‘s Director of Women’s National Programs said. “Choosing a team is never easy, but these 23 players earned the right to put on the U.S. jersey. We’re excited to bring this team to Denmark, as we look to take home a women’s world championship title.”
