The Arizona Coyotes have signed forward Michael Carcone to a two-year, one-way contract extension, the club announced Wednesday afternoon.

Carcone, 27, won the John B. Sollenberger Trophy after leading the American Hockey League with 85 points (31 goals, 54 assists) in 65 games with the Tucson Roadrunners during the 2022–23 regular season, setting new club records in goals, assists, and points in the process. He was named a first-team AHL All-Star and played at the 2023 AHL All-Star Classic in Laval, Que.

The five-foot-10 winger also appeared in nine games with the Coyotes in 2022–23, collecting a pair of goals and an assist. He had been slated to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
Carcone most recently suited up for Team Canada at the 2023 IIHF World Championship in Finland and Latvia, collecting three goals in six games en route to his first gold medal in international play.
According to CapFriendly, Carcone’s new deal with the Coyotes carries a $775,000 cap hit.
The Vancouver Canucks originally signed Carcone as an undrafted free agent from the QMJHL’s Drummondville Voltigeurs in 2016. The Ajax, Ont. product spent parts of three seasons with the Canucks’ AHL club before being traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2018.

Following brief tenures with the Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators, Carcone was traded to the Nashville Predators in 2020. But with the Milwaukee Admirals (the Predators’ AHL affiliate) on hiatus, Nashville sent Carcone to the Roadrunners on loan.

After a successful audition in Tucson, Carcone signed a two-year, two-way deal with the Coyotes in 2021. He finally made his NHL debut with Arizona during the 2021–22 season, collecting six points (four goals, two assists) in 21 games.

Through 30 career NHL games over the last two seasons with the Coyotes, Carcone has collected six goals and nine points. He’s added 123 goals and 267 points in 398 career AHL contests with the Utica Comets, Toronto Marlies, Belleville Senators, and Tucson.

Team Canada has emerged victorious with Gold in Finland following  a 5-2 win over Germany at the 2023 IIHF World Men’s Ice Hockey Championship. WDSE is proud to congratulate clients Michael Carcone and Cody Glass on their victory with Team Canada.

After trailing throughout the first two periods it was a tie game, 2-2, in the third when Glass intercepted the puck behind the German net and went for a wap-around allowing the puck to find the stick of teammate Sammy Blais for the game-winning goal.

After a breakout season with the Nashville Predators that fell just short of the postseason, Glass was pivotal to team Canada emerging as the team’s first line center. In ten games with Canada the Winnipeg, Manitoba native registered 4 assists while adding two shootout goals in games against Norway and Slovakia.

After finishing the year as the AHL scoring champion with the Arizona Coyotes’ Tucson Roadrunners, Carcone was originally a late addition to the national team but was huge part of Canada’s success. Carcone finished sixth in team scoring tallying six points (3G, 3A) over the ten games played.

A native of Ajax, Ontario, Mike Carcone set career highs and Tucson franchise records in 2022-23 with 31 goals and 54 assists for 85 points. The 26-year-old was the only skater in the American Hockey League to finish the top five in both goals (t-5th) and assists (3rd), while his 85 total points led the league. Carcone was selected as the AHL’s Player of the Month for December 2022 after amassing 20 points (10g 10a) in 10 outings and was named to the AHL’s First All-Star Team at the end of the season. He represented the Tucson Roadrunners with his first career AHL All-Star selection in February, finishing second in the AHL’s Fastest Skater Competition with a time that would have taken first place in the NHL’s competition. In addition, Carcone led the AHL All-Star Classic with four assists as the Pacific Division captured their first-ever All-Star Classic victory in Laval, QC.

The 2023 IIHF World Championship marks Carcone’s first appearance with Team Canada. In his third year with the Arizona Coyotes organization, Carcone registered three points (2g 1a) in nine NHL contests to bring his career total to six goals and three assists for nine points in 30 games since making his National Hockey League debut with Arizona on December 28, 2021.

Carcone joins Arizona Coyotes forwards Jack McBain and Lawson Crouse on Team Canada, along with Coyotes Head Coach André Tourigny serving as Head Coach and Coyotes legend Shane Doan as Assistant General Manager. Team Canada is looking to match their 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship team that repeated as champions in January 2023, with Coyotes prospect Dylan Guenther scoring the overtime game-winning goal to take home the gold medal.

Tucson forward Mike Carcone made team history on Friday when he recorded a pair of assists to set a new Roadrunners single-season scoring record at 68 points. Carcone is currently tied with Ontario Reign forward and back-to-back AHL Most Valuable Player TJ Tynan for the league lead in scoring with seven less games played than Tynan. Through three meetings with Milwaukee, the 26-year-old has amassed three goals and five assists for eight total points to lead the season series. With 26 points and 42 assists for 68 total points, Carcone is on pace to become the fourth to average a point per-game with at least 45 games played in a season, joining forwards Matias Maccelli (21-22), Brayden Burke (19-20) and Dylan Strome (17-18). With his two-point performance on Friday, Carcone has recorded 134 total points (65g 69a) in 133 career appearances with the Roadrunners since joining the organization prior to the 2020-2021 campaign.

WD Sports and Entertainment clients Mike Carcone and Tyson Foerster put their talents on display for the die-hard hockey fans at the 2023 AHL All-Star Game in Laval, Quebec. Both players met in the championship match of the division based 3-on-3 tournament with Carcone’s team Pacific coming away as the champs against Foerster’s team Atlantic.

Carcone tallied four assists over four three-on-three matchups, as the Pacific Division earned their first ever victory in the event with a 1-0 win over the Atlantic Division in the final. Carcone’s four assists led all skaters, while his four total points were tied for fourth in the event behind three of his Pacific Division teammates. 

Tyson Foerster impressed the big crowd at Place Bell in Laval when he scored a pair of goals just 42 seconds apart in the first period of the Atlantic Division’s matchup against the North Division. The Atlantic eventually prevailed 4-3 after a crazy 11-round shootout to advance to the Championship game.

The Skills Competition on Sunday saw Foerster hit all four targets on just six attempts in the Accuracy Shooting contest and he also scored in the Breakaway Challenge. Carcone was the first participant out of six to compete in the Fastest Skater event, finishing in second place with a time of 13.282. He trailed only Hershey Bears forward Ethen Frank, who set an AHL All-Star record with a time of 12.915. Carcone’s lap would have also taken first place at this season’s Fastest Skater Competition in the National Hockey League, as well as in five of the last six NHL Fastest Skater events. He also competed in the RONA Accuracy Shooting and Upper Deck Breakaway Relay challenges, as the Western Conference fell to the Eastern Conference by a count of 16 to 10.

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Michael Carcone scored in his first NHL game, Nick Schmaltz had his second power-play goal in two games and the Arizona Coyotes beat Colorado 6-3 on Tuesday night to end the Avalanche’s winning streak at four. 

“It feels great,” Carcone said. “Obviously, scoring a goal is the best thing you can do. The communication out there is unbelievable. They made it easy on me. I had a lot of energy. A little bit of nerves, which I think helped. Felt fresh.”

Carcone put the puck into an open side after a pass from Crouse for a 5-2 lead four minutes into the third period. Carcone, who was recalled from Tucson of the American Hockey League following an injury to Matias Maccelli, led the AHL with 42 points (16 goals) in 27 games.

“’Everybody in the building knows he has talent,” Coyotes coach Andre Tourigny said. “It’s a matter of can he play a consistent, turnover-free game. That’s what separated him from the NHL. He has improved as a player in the last year and a half. I’m happy for him. He will have a chance to show his improvement. We’ll give him the opportunity.”

Arizona Coyotes forward Michael Carcone scored his first career NHL goal against the Calagary Flames with an amazing shot into the top corner of the net.

The Coyotes forward has started to establish himself as an NHL regular spending significant minutes on the team’s second line since being called up from the Tuscon Roadrunners.
