Foerster scored the game-winning goal and added a power-play assist in Saturday’s 3-2 win over the Bruins. After helping to set up Travis Konecny for the afternoon’s first goal late in the second period, Foerster snapped a shot past Linus Ullmark with only 89 seconds left in the third. The 22-year-old Foerster He has 18 goals and 31 points through 66 games in his first full NHL season.

In Saturday night’s game against the Ottawa Senators, Tyson Foerster scored a goal that helped the Philadelphia Flyers make NHL history.

Forty-five seconds after scoring his first goal of the night, Foerster scored his second. Senators center Shane Pinto hooked Foerster on a breakaway, giving the Flyers a penalty shot with only two seasons remaining in the second period.

Foerster subsequently buried his opportunity, giving the Flyers a 3-1 lead and sending the Wells Fargo Center crowd into a frenzy on Marvel Super Hero night. That’s not all – Foerster’s goal allowed the Flyers to make NHL history, becoming the only team to score five penalty shot attempts in a single season.

Foerster’s two goals give him 16 on the season, putting him just one behind the Chicago Blackhawks’ Connor Bedard and the Minnesota Wild’s Marco Rossi (17) for the lead in goals amongst NHL rookies. It’s worth noting that six of Foerster’s 16 goals have come in his last five games. Before that, the 22-year-old missed four games due to a lower-body injury.

Stepping up and replacing Konecny (upper-body) is a tall order for any Flyers player, but Foerster appears to have embraced the challenge since returning from an injury of his own.

It helps that Foerster and the Flyers made NHL history along the way.

Less than 24 hours after notching his first NHL point with an assist. Tyson Foerster scored his first career NHL goal, and tallied another assist for his first multi-point (1G, 1A) NHL game.

Foerster was on a 2-on-1 with Morgan Frost, and the rookie wired home that strong wrist shot, making it a 2-1 game at 4:56 of the second period. Lemieux got the other helper on the play. Foerster looked good on the rush on that play.

“It was a good feeling to score, but at the end of the day, we didn’t win the game. We just have to look to the next game,” said Foerster. “I feel like I’ve been learning every game. Gaining confidence. I just wish we came out with a win.”

Tyson Foerster tallied his first career NHL point with an assist in a dominant Philadelphia Flyers victory Friday night. At 3:53, the Flyers made it 2-0. Foerster used his speed to break towards the Sabres’ goal during a 2-on-1 and had a chance near the net. The rebound bounced back out in front and teammate Joel Farabee tucked it home to break his 26-game goalless drought. Foerster’s primary assist was his first point in the NHL. The secondary assist went to teammate Hayes.

Tortorella said Tyson Foerster “has a lot to learn,” especially away from the puck, but he is encouraged by what he has seen from the right winger in his first few NHL games. “I just love his puck poise. I don’t think there’s a lot of panic in his game. Big body. He obviously can shoot the puck,” Tortorella said.

Philadelphia Flyers prospect Tyson Foerster made his NHL debut Thursday against the Carolina Hurricanes. He recorded a pair of shots in just under 14 minutes on ice during the Flyers’ 1-0 loss to Carolina.

Foerster was recalled from the AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms on an emergency basis due to injuries to forwards Wade Allison and Brendan Lemieux.

The Flyers selected Foerster 23rd overall at the 2020 NHL Draft. The 6-foot-2 winger has recorded 18 goals and 20 assists in 56 games with the Phantoms this season.

Foerster enjoyed a stellar junior career with the OHL’s Barrie Colts, racking up 114 points across 139 contests. He also won a gold medal with Canada at the 2022 World Junior Championship, where he contributed three goals and three helpers in seven games.

Foerster played well in his first taste of the NHL. He showed poise, recorded two shots and blocked three in 13:51 minutes.

The 2020 first-round draft pick had a decent look at ramming one home in the first period but Hurricanes netminder Pyotr Kochetkov was able to cover up the puck.

Foerster saved a goal when he blocked a Svechnikov shot with four and a half minutes left in the second period. The defensive play kept the Flyers within striking distance.

“The sky’s the limit for that kid,” AHL affiliate Lehigh Valley head coach Ian Laperriere said in September.

Foerster possesses an advanced shot. The Flyers are hoping he can fill a glaring hole in the future — and that’s being a goal scorer from around the circles.

WD Sports and Entertainment clients Mike Carcone and Tyson Foerster put their talents on display for the die-hard hockey fans at the 2023 AHL All-Star Game in Laval, Quebec. Both players met in the championship match of the division based 3-on-3 tournament with Carcone’s team Pacific coming away as the champs against Foerster’s team Atlantic.

Carcone tallied four assists over four three-on-three matchups, as the Pacific Division earned their first ever victory in the event with a 1-0 win over the Atlantic Division in the final. Carcone’s four assists led all skaters, while his four total points were tied for fourth in the event behind three of his Pacific Division teammates.

Tyson Foerster impressed the big crowd at Place Bell in Laval when he scored a pair of goals just 42 seconds apart in the first period of the Atlantic Division’s matchup against the North Division. The Atlantic eventually prevailed 4-3 after a crazy 11-round shootout to advance to the Championship game.

The Skills Competition on Sunday saw Foerster hit all four targets on just six attempts in the Accuracy Shooting contest and he also scored in the Breakaway Challenge. Carcone was the first participant out of six to compete in the Fastest Skater event, finishing in second place with a time of 13.282. He trailed only Hershey Bears forward Ethen Frank, who set an AHL All-Star record with a time of 12.915. Carcone’s lap would have also taken first place at this season’s Fastest Skater Competition in the National Hockey League, as well as in five of the last six NHL Fastest Skater events. He also competed in the RONA Accuracy Shooting and Upper Deck Breakaway Relay challenges, as the Western Conference fell to the Eastern Conference by a count of 16 to 10.

From JORDAN HALL

Allentown, Pennsylvania – He skated to the youngster and flipped him the OT-winning puck from the Flyers’ 2-1 rookie game victory over the Rangers.

Nicely done, kid. Both of them.

Foerster is only 20 years old and Friday night was just a matchup of prospects at PPL Center. But the 2020 first-round pick put on display exactly what the Flyers were hoping for when they selected him 23rd overall.

Go win a game with that shot.

With the Flyers’ front office looking on, Foerster didn’t hesitate burying the overtime winner just 39 seconds into the bonus session.

Foerster’s shot had to be a small but sweet reprieve for the Flyers’ brass after the organization went through a 2021-22 season in which little went right. The club is coming off of a 25-46-11 finish and has lamented its need for more top-end talent.

The best and cheapest way to find that talent is through the entry draft. The Flyers believe they have a shoot-first talent in Foerster.

“Wow, that’s how it feels to win in overtime,” AHL affiliate Lehigh Valley head coach Ian Laperriere said with a laugh.

“The sky’s the limit for that kid. He can shoot, that’s great. … But he’s showing me, he’s showing everybody a little bit more with his physicality, he’s winning those battles. It’s impressive.”

Let’s get into observations from the first of two rookie games at the home of the Phantoms.

• The Flyers’ hockey ops booth at PPL Center probably let out a collective “shoot it, kid,” as it watched Foerster gain steam toward the net in overtime.

The club has needed more pure shooters from the circles. Guys that can beat a goalie without help. It’s a significant reason why the Flyers drafted Foerster, who was a winger with some rawness in other areas but had an advanced shot from the flank.

“We don’t have a lot of natural scorers from that area, nor have we for a long time,” Flyers general manager Chuck Fletcher said Nov. 30 last season. “It’s certainly something we’ve looked to try to address in the draft the last few years going forward.”

Foerster had defenseman Adam Ginning to his right and loading up.

Did Ginning call for it?

“No, no, no,” the Swedish native said with a big smile.

They all know Foerster can shoot and should look to shoot.

“Tys is like that,” Elliot Desnoyers, who assisted the winner, said. “You give him an inch, he’ll take 10.”

Foerster was happy to give up his game-winning puck.

“It was pretty cool,” Foerster said. “I just saw the little kid come out of the stanchions there. I just saw him, gave him a little heads up and he wanted the puck.”

After missing much of last season because of shoulder surgery, Foerster is a safe bet to open this year with the Phantoms. The Flyers will want him pushing, though. He’ll need to continue to work on his well-roundedness.

“I’m sure growing up, that was his main job — scoring goals. That’s why he was drafted,” Laperriere said. “He’s got that big smile on his face, he loves to score goals, which is great.

“But to play at the next level, it’s one thing to score goals, but if it’s the only thing you do, you better do it every night. There’s not too many guys at the next level that do that. They’ve got the guy in Washington, who’s pretty good at it, but even him, he’s physical.

“[Foerster is] still young, we’ve got to help him. Hopefully he makes the big team, I hope he does for his sake, but if he comes here, we’re going to help him become a 200-foot player, help him win those 1-on-1 battles like he did tonight. It’s only going to help him for the rest of his career.”

Canada finished the tournament with a perfect record, seven wins without a loss, including an earlier 6-3 win over the Finns during the preliminary round. They have now won their record 19th all-time gold medals at the World Juniors. The win also marks the 15th time in 16 hostings that Canada has earned a medal, the lone exception coming in 2019. For Finland, they take silver, their fifth U20 medal since 2014.

Canadian forward Tyson Foerster was stellar for the host country through the tournament finishing in the tournament with 6 points (6 points, 3G, 3A). The Philadelphia Flyers star was a force of nature scoring goals for the powerhouse Canadians consistently throughout the tournament.
