WDSE Client, Markus Phillips will be spending his birthday travelling to join his new AHL team, the Manitoba Moose, after the Winnipeg Jets acquired the LA Kings prospect as part of a 1-for-1 player swap.
Phillips, 23, played 38 games for the AHL’s Ontario Reign this season and had five points (1G, 4A) and 18 penalty minutes. The Markham, Ont. native is in his third professional season and has played 74 games for the Reign recording 15 points (4G, 11A) and 36 PIMs.
Phillips, the Kings’ fourth-round pick (118th overall) in the 2017 NHL Draft, spent five seasons in the Ontario Hockey League. His OHL career was highlighted by a trip to the 2019 Memorial Cup, where his Guelph Storm team lost to the eventual champion Rouyn-Noranda Huskies in the semifinal. Internationally, Phillips represented Canada at the 2019 World Junior Championships.
