The Steelheads were able to celebrate a rare weekday morning win when James Hardie scored his hat-trick goal on a walk-off overtime game-winning-score giving the Mississauga Steelheads a 5-4 victory over the Hamilton Bulldogs.

After a high scoring first period, the Steelheads came out of the gates firing to find another early goal. Exactly one minute into the second period, Luke Misa won the battle gaining possession of the puck. Skating in, Misa sent the puck over to James Hardie who was able to beat falling Malboeuf, tying the game at three a piece. Lucas Karmiris was credited with an assist on the goal.

The Steelheads were not done yet, and only a few minutes later, the Hardie put another one past the Bulldogs goaltender. The overager carried the puck in the zone, sending the puck across to Beck, who passed it back to the Innisfil native. Hardie placed the puck in the net, giving him his second of the game and of the period. Del Mastro also earned an assist on the goal.

In overtime, gaining possession of the puck, Luca Del Bel Belluz made his way into the Bulldogs’ zone, dropping the puck to teammate Hardie. The veteran winger picked up the loose puck and fired a hard shot on net, recording his third goal of the game, his 17th goal of the season, and his second hat trick of the year. Del Mastro picked up the assist on the Hardie game winning goal.
