The Guelph Storm defeated the Owen Sound Attack 3-2 in overtime on Saturday night to earn wins in back-to-back games against their Midwest Division rivals.

Jake Murray scored the game-winner in overtime when he fired a shot past the blocker of Owen Sound goaltender Owen Votary at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre. The goal was his third of year and his second game-winner in the last eight days.

With the victory, Guelph improves to 11-15-2-1 while Owen Sound falls to 16-9-2-1. The Storm have won two straight after defeating their rivals in back-to-back games, the Attack have lost three in a row and remain in second place in the Midwest Division. Guelph has won four straight against Owen Sound, earning victories in each of the last four meetings between the teams.

Jake Karabela opened the scoring when he tapped the puck past Owen Votary for his sixth goal of the season 12:52 into the first period.

Guelph looks to keep their two-game win streak alive on Sunday when they face off against the Ottawa 67’s at the Sleeman Centre with the puck dropping at 2:00pm. Owen Sound hopes to snap their losing-streak at three games when they host the Soo Greyhounds on Sunday. The Storm and Attack will meet again in the new year on Saturday, January 14, 2023 in Owen Sound.
